First Congregational Church's Holiday Mission Fair & Silent Auction

The
First Congregational Church of Ridgefield will hold its annual holiday Mission
Fair and Silent Auction on the first two Sundays of December.  The event is free and open to the public.  It begins Sunday, December 1st   9:00am
– noon with the Silent Auction continuing during the week between 10:00 am –
4:00pm for bidding and ending Sunday, December 8th with final bidding
at 11:30 am.  All proceeds go directly to
support the church’s local mission partners.

The
Mission Fair in Lund Hall features a variety of reasonably priced gifts created
and donated by members, friends and mission outreach partners of First
Congregational Church.  Browse among the
many furnishings, fine gifts, gift baskets and crafts and participate in the
special silent auction.

 Craft
items from Maine, brought from the mission community H.O.M.E. by Sister Lucy
Poulin, are a special feature of the mission fair. Sister Lucy will also speak
the morning of December 1st during worship at the 8:30 a.m. and
10:00 a.m. services.

 Holy
Joe’s Coffee table, another special feature, will serve and sell coffee benefiting
the Chaplaincy program run through United Church of Christ (UCC).  All
proceeds fund coffee served to our troops returning from abroad.   A simple cup of coffee, a relaxing
environment and a willing listener are all part of a larger effort to help our
military men and women find the normalcy required to process the extreme
situations they endured and aid in their adjustments back home. Holy Joe's
coffee is fair trade and supports small farmers globally.

 Throughout
the year, First Congregational supports local missions, many of which are in
the Danbury area like Amos House, Angel Tree,
Athletes of Christ,  Christian Community Outreach Ministries, Church
World Service, Dorothy Day Hospitality House, Habitat for Humanity, Heifer
International, HomeFront, H.O.M.E.,  Jericho
Partnership, Pivot Ministries and the Women's Center of
Greater Danbury.
