The Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra will present a concert on Sunday afternoon, March 3rd, 2013, at 4:00 PM at the Clune Auditorium, Wilton High School, in Wilton.
The concert will feature performances by three WCYO ensembles comprised of nearly 100 auditioned musicians in grades 5 - 12 from seventeen towns in Connecticut and New York.
The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Petko Dimitro, will perform the complete Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 as well as Introduction and Rondo and Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saens featuring the 2013 WCYO concerto competition winner, Caroline Joyner as soloist.
The String ensemble, under the baton of Justin Elkins, will open the concert and perform a program that includes classical pieces by Mozart and Handel.
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Albert Montecalvo, which performs high level concert band repertoire, will perform Toccata for Band, Passacaglia, and a medley of music from Disney's Lion King.
Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors, and will be available for purchase at the door on the day of the concert.
