Ridgefield Academy to Host Open House and Fall Family Day

Ridgefield Academy will hold an Open House on Saturday, October 20 from 11: 00am – 1:00pm; all families who attend are invited to enjoy RA’s annual Fall Family Day (11:00am – 3:00pm), a carnival of food, fun and activities for children of all ages.

Families will have a chance to explore RA’s new sound booth in the school’s media and technology center (The Bridge) and see the creative work that Middle and Upper school students have produced.  The RA Weather Bug station and some inventions made in Robotics classes will be up and running.  Families with children ages 3 through Grade 3 can check out the lower school computer lab, laptop and iPad carts, and a fully equipped media center.

RA’s totally renovated Preschool will be open to the public for the first time on October 20 as well. Families will have an opportunity to tour the new facility which now offers programs for children age 2-5.  “The Kitchen Lab,” to open in November, will integrate science, math and writing with nutrition and cooking.  Students at RA learn the benefits of “farm-to-table” as they plant and grow vegetables and herbs in the organic garden.  Families may also visit the auditorium (“the pod”) and learn how this new space will be used in the Preschool.

A stop at the World Language Wing, new this fall in RA’s Middle and Upper School, is on the tour as well.  Open for exploration will be the all-season turf field, the indoor climbing wall, the age-appropriate playgrounds, Turner auditorium, the art studios, the Harkness rooms, and three science labs.  Teachers and administrators will be on-hand to tour families and to answer questions about the program, curriculum, enrichment and after-school programs.

“The Ridgefield Academy community is committed to our mission statement: “maintaining high academic standards and emphasizing the importance of responsibility, respect and service to others in all areas of school life,” adds Julie Crane, Director of Admission.  More information on RA can be found at www.ridgefieldacademy.org.

No money for the classrooms? A shame. Ridgefield's BOE just donated $25,000 of taxpayer money toRead More yet another artificial turf field. Gee, that works out to about $480 per classroom - exactly what the teachers have to spend out of their pockets on YOUR kids. Lesson: Money for sports? Yes. Money for the classroom. No.
