Watch as the Christmas story unfolds before your eyes as Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church presents a "Living Nativity" on Sun., Dec. 9 and again Sat., Dec. 15.

All are invited to behold Mary and Joseph’s arrival at the stable, and their visits by shepherds and wise men, during the “Living Nativity” performed at 5:30 p.m. both days on the front steps of the church, 207 Main St., (at Branchville Road).

Plus, after the Dec. 15 presentation, stay for a 7 p.m. performance by New York City’s premiere choir and orchestra, The SymphoNYChorus.

“The ‘Living Nativity’ is a celebrated tradition in which Jesse Lee helps to usher in the joy of Christmas to the community,” said Bill Pfohl, Jesse Lee’s senior pastor. “Children are thrilled to see the story play out in front of them – with a real baby Jesus, and shepherds watching over a live flock. For adults, it’s the perfect way to re-connect with the true meaning of what can be a burdensome stressful time.”

Directed by church member Kay Ullman, the 30-minute presentations of the birth of Christ will delight audiences young and old with angelic choirs, live animals, costumed actors and a wondrous star.

SymphoNYChorus Concert Dec. 15

After the Dec. 15 performance, all are encouraged to stay (or return later) for a special holiday concert at 7 p.m. presented by The SymphoNYChorus. The group is a Christian, faith-based choir and orchestra committed to the performance, promotion and expansion of choral singing as an art form, while also educating, enriching and inspiring audiences throughout New York City and the world. Its director is Henric Ideström, Jesse Lee’s music minister.

Their concert, titled “Joy to the World,” will feature renditions of favorite carols and new pieces as well.  This exciting and passionate company will have your spirits soaring.  Their previous holiday performances have filled Jesse Lee’s sanctuary – with people and with joyous music.

A free-will offering will be taken.
