Self Myofascial Release (SMR) is a form of self-massage, in which hands, foam rollers, balls, and other tools are used to apply pressure to adhesions in a muscle (“knots”). This pressure eventually causes the knots to release, helping to restore mobility, and allowing the muscles to function properly. If you ever experience discomfort in the outer knee, under the foot, in the glutes, shoulders, or lower back (or anywhere else for that matter), it is likely that you may benefit from SMR.
Natasha Kowatch, Certified Personal Trainer, will host a series of workshops demonstrating Self Myofascial Release (aka foam-rolling) techniques for releasing “knots” in the muscles.
