Beginner Beekeeping Class

Join The Discovery Center beekeepers over three Thursday evenings and learn all you need to know to get started in beekeeping this spring. Then in May, we will visit an apiary. One fee for all classes.

Although it is still winter, spring will be here before you know it. Learn all you need to know to start you own beehive this spring. We will cover the history of beekeeping, honey bee biology, and how to set up a beehive and care for your honey bees. Winter is a good time to start the preparations, and this class will give you the information you will need to be prepared for the arrival of your Queen bee. The classroom sessions will conclude with a tasting of honeys from around the world. The last class will be held in May with a trip to a local apiary for an opportunity to look into a honey bee hive buzzing with springtime activity.
