Taste of Ridgefield to Tempt Local Foodies, Families

Over 30 restaurants and and wine shops are participating in this year's event, which now includes a family-friendly price for kids age 12 and under.

The Ridgefield Rotary Club has lined up over 30 local eateries, several student musicians and several sponsors for a tempting "Taste of Ridgefield," taking place Sun. Jan. 27 at the Ridgefield Community Center.

New this year is a family-friendly price of $20 for kids 12-and-under; adults pay $45 at the door and $40 when buying tickets prior to the event.

"We recognize that some locals would like to enjoy the event with their kids, or not have to get a babysitter," explained Joan Hume Cohen, a member of the Rotary, which organizes the event and donates the proceeds toward community grants and scholarships.

There are two tasting sessions: The first, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. followed by one at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Also new for this year is how they're recognizing their event sponsors.

"We are paying more attention to who helps to put on the event," said Hume Cohen. "We'd like everyone to know who they are and help the businesses get the recognition they deserve."

Small bites and desserts from an array of Ridgefield restaurants will be offered in a fun atmosphere, she added.

"This event is really social—fun to go to and 'see and be seen,' and say hello to your friends," said Hume Cohen of the 14th annual event.

Tickets are available here.
