Ridgefield Library Sells Bank Property, New Theater Coming

The Webster Bank building will become "The Prospector" theater.

An important step forward towards completion of the took place on Thursday, August 16th, when sale of the Library’s property at 25 Prospect Street to Ridgefielder Valerie Jensen was completed.

Transfer of this property has been an integral part of the plans for the Library’s expansion and renovation project. Considerable thought and work over several months have gone into crafting easements and logistics to coordinate the Library’s work with Jensen’s plans to return her new property, most recently occupied by Webster Bank, to its original use as a theater, to be known as The Prospector. Completion of the sale allows both projects to move full steam ahead in the coming weeks.

Library Director Chris Nolan shared her enthusiasm about this development, saying "We are so pleased that this phase of the project has come to successful resolution. Both of these projects, the new Library and the Prospector, will be anchors for the downtown.  We are looking forward to working closely with our new neighbors during construction and when both buildings open in late 2013."

The Library closed operations at its Main Street facility on Saturday the 18th. It will be closed for two weeks for re-location and will open in its temporary home at 21 Governor Street after .
