With warmer weather on the horizon, you may be looking for places where you can enjoy a meal outdoors. Here is our selection of some of the best outside dining areas in town:
- – 23 Bailey Ave., (203) 431-0796
Baileys is the perfect place when the weather is not quite warm or dry enough for true outside seating. It has an “outside” space that is covered, protecting diners from the elements. For a light lunch, try the baby arugula salad ($13), or for a more substantial meal, order the pan seared sea scallops over lemon artichoke risotto ($27).
- – 378 Main St., (203) 431-4440
With several tables placed directly on the Main Street sidewalk, the Bissell house is a wonderfully lively place on a sunny day. For a nice springtime meal, try a cobb salad with grilled shrimp ($12.95), or make your own omelet with three ingredients of your choice ($12.95).
- – 5 Grove St., (203) 894-1940
Perched on the corner of East Ridge and Grove St., this café is another great people-watching location. The outdoor seating area features a large number of tables, surrounded by lovely foliage. For a taste of summer, order the “Not Simply Salad” with mixed field greens, gorgonzola, walnuts, pears, & raspberry vinaigrette ($10). If you are in the mood for a little more, try the chicken milanese piccata sandwich ($11).
- – 59 Ethan Allen Hwy., (203) 544-9222
Little Pub’s outdoor patio is a fabulous place to spend a sunny afternoon with friends. The turkey burger with cilantro-chipotle spread ($10.95) will fill you up without fattening you up, or if calories aren’t a problem, try the lobster mac & cheese with butter sautéed lobster, 4 types of cheese, and a panko bread crumb topping ($15.95).
- – 3 Big Shop Ln., (203) 894-8522
Tucked away at the back of Big Shop Lane, Luc’s feels like it is a world away. When you sample some of the authentically French food, such as Salade Nicoise ($16.50), or the fruit and cheese platter ($17), you may forget you are actually in Ridgefield.
- – 3 Big Shop Ln. #1, (203) 438-5352
Located next door to Luc’s, Terra Sole is the Italian stop on your European tour. With fabulous menu items like thyme-grilled calamari with lemon oil ($10), or panko crusted chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, organic arugula, and homemade fresh mozzarella, the terrace at Terra Sole may become your second home.
