Patch Picks: Ridgefield's Hangout Spots For Teens And Tweens

There's quite a bit for older kids to do in Ridgefield all year long.

Where can the kids go outside of school to have a little constructive, safe fun?  Here are a few suggestions:

Founded by a group of Ridgefielders and operated by the Town of Ridgefield, the Graham Dickinson S.P.I.R.I.T. skate park is an ideal place for kids to burn off some energy while practicing their moves. Open seven days a week from noon to dusk, there are many different membership and lesson packages available. For more information including fees click here.

The Barn is an unassuming building located adjacent to Veteran’s Park Elementary School on Governor Street. Run by the Town of Ridgefield, the Barn’s goal is to provide a safe place for kids aged 13-17 to hang out. Admission is free. There are many events held at the Barn throughout the year such as Rock Houses, Acoustic and Open Mic Nights and various celebrations. For more information email Linda at barn@ridgefieldct.org.

The Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club is a wonderful place for children with programs available after school and during school vacations. There is even a full summer camp program available. With a large gymnasium that features frequent , a 1.18 mile paved trail, a fabulous pool complete with waterslide and a well-stocked wellness center, the Ridgefield Recreation Center is a one-stop resource for active youth.
