High Winds, Dense Fog, Possible Thunderstorm in Ridgefield Today

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch and forecast possible thundershowers for the area.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind watch and dense fog watch for Northern Fairfield County and for Wednesday, Jan. 30.

In Ridgefield gusts could get as high as 34.

"These strong winds, in combination with heavy rain, could bring down whole trees, large tree limbs, power lines and unsecured outdoor objects," the NWS warns. "This could pose a hazard to anyone out driving or walking Wednesday night and to houses and other structures near larger trees.”

Ridgefield's NWS Forecast

  • Wednesday: Showers, mainly after 3pm. Widespread dense fog, mainly before 1pm. High near 59. South wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Wednesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5am, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog before midnight. Low around 45. Windy, with a south wind 16 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Thursday, Jan. 31: A chance of showers, mainly before 9am. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 36 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
