'1800' Brand Tequila Recalled for Glass Particle Dangers

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection warns in this press release that small pieces of glass could be in the beverage.

The potential for glass particles in certain bottles of “1800” brand tequila has led to a national recall of three products, the Department of Consumer Protection announced.

Consumers who have purchased the following items are encouraged to heed the voluntary national recall announced by Agavera Camiches, S.A. de C.V, the brand owner of 1800 Tequila, and by Proximo Spirits, the importer of the product.

  • 1800 Tequila Coconut 1.75 liter
  • 1800 Tequila Silver 1.75 liter
  • 1800 Tequila Reposado 1.75 liter

The companies announced the voluntary recall after learning of potential damage to the bottles’ glass stoppers during transportation and handling.  While there have been no reports of consumer injuries, the potential of small particles of glass in the bottle could pose a health and safety risk. Only the 1.75 liter bottles are affected.

“The Department of Consumer Protection is communicating with Connecticut wholesalers who distribute the products to our liquor retailers, and we support the companies’ decision to voluntarily recall the items to safeguard consumers,” Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “While wholesalers and retailers are removing the recalled items from sale, consumers who already have these products at home can seek and receive a refund from the brand owner,” he said.

Consumers should check to see if they have affected product by comparing the first 9 digits of the 13-digit Lot Code, which can be found on the side of the bottle against the list of impacted product codes:

The bull market continues because our currency continues to be devalued by the Feds' printing press.Read More In 2006 dollars it has not increased value at all. In addition, revenues have increased (due to the above) but companies' earnings remain mostly flat. Three cheers for a stagnant economy? Dear Mr. Gladstone: Your comments provide for a great way of starting or continuing a discussion andRead More for that I am thankful. The fact which you cited provides for a compelling argument to further your position on "tort reform" regarding how medical malpractice awards have allegedly been steadily increasing, however it is contrary to the information provided to us by the United States government. The U.S Department of Heath and Human Services recently published its statistical findings which indicate that medical malpractice awards have steadily decreased over the past 11 years. (http://www.npdb-hipdb.hrsa.gov/servlet/DataTablesByStateServlet?selectedTab=Tabular&stateCode=US&tableNum=Table1) Further, according to the Institute of Medicine, preventive preventable medical errors kill almost 100,000 Americans every year and injure countless others. In fact, if the Centers For Disease Control were to include preventable medical errors as a category, it would be the sixth leading cause of death in America. One might surmise from this data that we have an epidemic of medical malpractice cases but not medical malpractice lawsuits. I would suggest that investigating ways to prevent these medical errors might provide for a more holistic solution to this systemic problem.

Im thinking of writing a book called "parasites, medical malpractice lawyers and theRead More exaggerations of claims." Or maybe "crash course--why personal injury lawyers are ruining this country." Medical malpractice awards have increased at a rate of roughly 12% per year for the last 40 years. When we are aghast at the cost of soaring college costs just consider that at this rate, the cost of Yale tuition would be 115,000 a year, as opposed to 43k. And remember we are all appalled at how fast that has risen. A crash course in how all of this parasitical work, costs all of us so dearly when we pay our taxes (medicare/medicaid) or insurance company.
