What Shop Would You Like to See Here in Ridgefield?

For this vacant spot on Bailey Avenue in Ridgefield, what storefront would you really love to have open up?

There's a retail spot just across from Ridgefield Town Hall and adjacent to  on Bailey Avenue that's available to rent. What store would compliment Main Street? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

Ralph Lauren's Rugby store! Or another children's clothing store, considering Gap will be closing :/

A chic, inexpensive clothing store for young women. So many of the stores on Main Street that "fit" this description are not the type of inexpensive most young women can afford without daddy's credit card... An upscale version of Forever 21--where tops are $50 and under, not $200 each...

How about a "chic, inexpensive clothing store" for ALL women?
Allison bernhardt July 24, 2012 at 01:09 PM
Athleta... A reasonably priced store for the active woman.
Char Millerick July 24, 2012 at 01:12 PM
Even better! My only implication was that many young women (teens and 20's) don't quite have the paycheck for the other stores!

A comic book shop.
Rosie July 24, 2012 at 03:10 PM
Anything but another real estate office or antique store.

A men's shoe store. A cigar store. Panera Bread

How about another bank?
Eileen July 24, 2012 at 05:56 PM
Probably won't see that as Athleta is part of the GAP chain.
Eileen July 24, 2012 at 05:58 PM
Nope, no Panera Bread for you! What's the matter with you? That's a chain restaurant and those are frowned upon in this town.....

Inexpensive ethnic restaurant - Indian, Cuban, or something else new and unique.

I agree!

There is a Panera Bread going into the new shopping complex at the old Marcus Dairy up Rt 7 near the Mall. Also a Whole Foods store. Guess you'll have to drive to Danbury, like we all do anyway.

Not in that particular space obviously, but i would like to see a drive-thru restaurant like taco bell, or a bowling alley in town.

A good jewish deli!
Sara July 24, 2012 at 09:45 PM
An authentic tapas bar, an Indian restaurant or J Crew
Lindsey July 25, 2012 at 01:59 AM
Plan B Burger Bar, now that place would do wonders for this town.

A good old fashioned general store that sells a little bit of everything papers (like Newsday a good NY paper), local produce, milk that's under $3 a gallon, local eggs, a milkshake counter, pharmaceuticals, like the 1950's!!! I have memories as a child of going to church on Sunday and then walking to Darien's general store across the street and my father buying the paper, coffee and us kids smarties candy. Ahhhhh, those were the days. That's where I would go for a quick shop.
Eileen July 25, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Yes , Hannah! That would be perfect! A real, old school Jewish deli with barrels of dill pickels!!!!
brian July 25, 2012 at 01:00 PM
we need another dry cleaner

You mean like Squash's USED to be?
Char Millerick July 25, 2012 at 03:24 PM
Love this idea!! People of all ages would enjoy this type of store--I think it'd be very popular!
Kathy July 25, 2012 at 06:41 PM
I miss the cooking store (Complete Kitchen) that used to be on Main Street. That was a great place to get gifts or specialty items. They ran classes too!
S July 27, 2012 at 02:24 AM
Mens clothing store, NY like bakery, and any of the above ideas....like general store, burgers , ...

Thanks for that update Rosie. What else is going in over there?? I LOVE Jamba Juice and Moes Southwest Grill. I would love to see those in Ridgefield but....... Regarding chains being frowned upon in Ridgefield, then why is there Subway, Starbucks, CVS, Talbots, Carvel, Gap (for a couple more months), Kohls, Swizzles.......... There are many of these chains in downtown Westport and Greenwich and, in my opinion, they don't take away from the small town feel. A few chains will not make a small town a city, frankly they will only enhance it as providing much needed goods/services and jobs!

Great Idea!
Eileen July 31, 2012 at 06:48 PM
@CB ". Regarding chains being frowned upon in Ridgefield, then why is there Subway, Starbucks, CVS, Talbots, Carvel, Gap (for a couple more months), Kohls, Swizzles." But they're NOT on Main St. OK, CVS, but it's back off the road.
