The Cake Box Expands to Big Shop Lane

The cupcake and cake shop now offers an in-store eatery and early morning hours for customers.

Now Ridgefielders can have their cake and eat it—in the morning.

The Cake Box has moved from the Copp's Hill Marketplace on Danbury Road to 1 Big Shop Lane in the space formerly occupied by Nancy O’s knitting shop, and expanded its hours and menu offerings.

In addition to the shop's traditional cupcakes, brownies and cakes, customers can now dine on breakfast fare such as scones, muffins and cinnamon rolls during the early morning hours, said co-owner Jordan Gregory.

"Our new location is a little bigger and has the room we need to offer more baked items and a full range of hot beverages," she said. The shop is now open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sundays.

What's not changing is how they bake.

“Everything we sell is baked on premises completely from scratch using fresh and natural ingredients," said Gregory.

There are also now café style tables for in-store dining and the beverage menu has also grown to include cappuccino, hot chocolate, latte, chai and gourmet teas, she added.

Gregory, who grew up in Ridgefield, opened the popular cupcake and cake bakery in April 2010 with her partner Robert Byrnes. Both have professional culinary credientials and industry experience. In addition to their in-store baked goods, Byrnes and Gregory accept orders for party favors and wedding cakes.
