New Building, New Location for Ridgefield Bike Shop

Half of the building being built at 90 Danbury Road has been rented out to a pre-existing Ridgefield business.

One-half of the large, still-under-construction building at the 90 Danbury Road shopping plaza has been leased to the Ridgefield Bicycle Company, currently located at 22 Catoonah Street in Ridgefield.

The new location will facilitate a “much more appropriate and functional space” for what the Ridgefield Bicycle Company is currently doing at its current, smaller location, said co-owner Jacqueline Dowd. “Our service department will have room to breathe and we won’t have to scramble every time it rains,” said Dowd.

Dowd, who owns the Ridgefield Bicycle Company with her husband Sean, said that they had been thinking about moving to a larger location not long after they acquired the business in 2011. They signed a lease for the new location earlier this month.

“Our current location is cozy and fun, but bikes are big and require a lot of room to move around,” she said. They felt that a new building for their business “had to be some place big enough, with good parking and still in the mix of the community. It had to embody a good feel and be inviting for people to come in.”
