Four Vacancies On Ridgefield's Main Street

Jeff Ryer, President and CEO of Ryer Associates Commercial Real Estate, Inc., said Rigefield's Main Street is suffering from a tough economy, but it has tremendous potential and it always bounces back.

"We fell off a cliff in '08 and '09," said Ryer, who remembers the tough times in the last five years. "There were times we couldn't guarantee we could fill a space in six months or in 12 months or in 18 months."

Ryer said those days are passing. People are looking for space, they're calling, and, "The recovery is right down the line."

Barry Finch, a third-generation Realtor in Ridgefield, said he's showing his space at 426 Main St., as often as three times a day. "It's in the center of town."

Finch said he made a mistake with the previous tenant when he rented the space to an office, not retail.

"It is definitely retail space," Finch said. "It's coming back. I had no calls in January and February. Now I'm getting more that one call a day."
