Connecticut Gas Prices Most Expensive in New England

One gas price tracking website says Ridgefield had the sixth highest price in the state within the past 36 hours.

The combination of rising fuel costs and Connecticut's new gas tax have pushed the price of gas in the state higher than anywhere else in New England.

The state's $3.997 average for a gallon of regular unleaded is also nearly 32 cents more than the national average, according to Gas Buddy, a website that tracks prices.

According to Gas Buddy, the sixth highest price in the last 36 hours came from Ridgefield — $4.29 at the Shell at 130 Danbury Road and Copps Hill.

South Carolina is home to the cheapest gas in the U.S., at $3.319 per gallon, Gas Buddy reports.
