A resident's pet reportedly had a close encounter with a coyote on Friday — the same day that officials in belonging to the Aspectuck Land Trust due to "aggressive" coyotes.
Resident Bill Murrell told the Ridgefield Press that his beagle, Brandi, was playing in the backyard of his Strawberry Ridge Road home when "two coyotes suddenly came running out of the woods straight for my dog."
“When I came around the house they were both about five feet away from the dog and circling," he told the newspaper.
Luckily Brandi was unharmed — but Murrell said was surprised by how quickly the incident took place.
"I wasn’t in the house more than two minutes," he told the paper.
Coyote sightings are becoming more common in Fairfield County — in addition there has been a — as the jackals adapt to suburban environs and become more accustomed to being around people.
About three weeks ago that had wandered into a resident's yard.
