Ridgefield Carnival Returns for 17th Year with a Bang

The annual carnival is back and so are the fireworks.

After a 15-year hiatus, the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) is bringing back their fireworks show as part of the 17th annual RVFD Carnival.

The carnival starts Wednesday night, with gates opening at 6 p.m. at East Ridge Middle School, and runs through Saturday, June 28. On Friday, when the sun goes down the lights will come out, with a fireworks display.

The department used to do an annual fireworks show in the early days of the carnival, according to Deputy Chief Tim Pambianchi, however the cost was too much in the past.

This year, the RVFD was able to secure donations from local sponsors, including Pamby Motors, Union Savings Bank and the local bus drivers’ union.

The free fireworks show is set to go off after sundown on Friday (rain date Saturday), with suggested viewing on the south field of East Ridge Middle.

The Fire Department will so be selling food and beverages at the carnival and glow sticks and necklaces the night of the fireworks show.
