Hearing Wednesday on Adopting Nine Roads to Ridgefield's Scenic Registry
Nine streets are up for consideration as "scenic roads."
Ridgefield residents are invited to comment at a public hearing Wednesday night on the inclusion of nine streets under the town’s Scenic Roads designation.
The roads under consideration include Clearview Drive, Clearview Terrace, Lake Road, Lakeside Drive, Lakeside Drive Extension, Mountain Road, Rainbow Drive, Shady Lane and Woody Place.
If approved, the roads will still be maintained along the same schedule they are now, however, per the town code, maintenance “shall be carried out so as to preserve to the highest degree possible its scenic and rural characteristics, compatible with safe road operations.
Outside of regular maintenance, any alterations or major (non-emergency) construction would have to be approved by the Board of Selectmen, with comments from the Planning and Zoning Commission and a public hearing.
After the public hearing, the Board of Selectmen will have 65 days to make a decision on the roads.
The public hearing is set for 7:30 p.m. in the large conference room in Town Hall.
