St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., will hold a service of choral evensong led by Minister of Music Scott Toperzer on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 5:00 p.m. “All are invited to join us in this evensong as we sing our final Alleluias before Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent,” said Mr. Toperzer.
Evensong is a uniquely Anglican/Episcopalian and centuries-old tradition of sung Evening Prayer. The featured canticles will be the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon) by Herbert Murrill, a 20th century English composer and organist. The choir will also perform the moving anthem "Stay With Us" by Egil Hovland, a contemporary Norwegian composer.
After the service there will be a wine and cheese reception in South Hall.
