Last Saturday evening the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield celebrated 75 years of service on behalf of the town’s children and youth. Over 160 guests attended the Anniversary Gala in the Club’s beautifully transformed gym and helped raise $65,000 in support of its activities. Ancona’s Market, Craig’s Fine Jewelry and Ridgefield Fitness Club were among the local merchants contributing to the evening’s dining and entertainment, which included a live auction hosted by Carolyn Kepcher. A complete list of the evening’s sponsors can be found on the Club’s website. A Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame was also inaugurated, with initial inductees First Selectman Rudy Marconi and former Club President Bill Gallagher in attendance.
Each day the Club hosts an average of 220 children after school where they participate in homework programs, projects in the technology center, paint, draw or sculpt in the art room, and work up a sweat in the gym. In addition, the Club supports Middle School and High School service clubs that volunteer at different venues throughout town. The High School Keystone Club won two of four National awards for such programs at a recent Convention attended by Ridgefield members. These programs are not possible without the generous contributions from supporters of the Club at events such as this annual Gala, the Turkey Trot, and the upcoming golf outing. The Gala Committee would like to thank all who attended Saturday’s event, and those local merchants who supported us as well.
