St. Luke's Rocks the Runway for Inspirica

Ridgefield resident Christie Kuehner led the way for the student-run fashion show.

The second annual St. Luke’s Fashion Show raised more than $3,000 for Inspirica, a Stamford organization dedicated to ending homelessness. The show is the brainchild of Ridgefield resident and St. Luke’s senior, Christie Kuehner and the student-run St. Luke’s Life & Style Committee.

“Inspirica is definitely the inspiration behind the fashion show," said Christie. "I’ve worked with them in the past and was so impressed by what they do. They support families and help them get back on their feet.”

Christie thanked all the student and faculty models who rocked the runway in fashions generously provided by Mitchell's, Wishlist, the Darien Sport Shop, Caren Forbes, Togs and Suburban Couture.

Inspirica CEO, Jason Shaplen, gave a moving introduction to the event. He reminded the audience how fortunate we are not to worry where our next meal will come from or where our children will sleep at night.

“Your support means more than you know,” said Shaplen. “The fact that you care resonates with people you may never meet.“ Shaplen, referring to a formal partnership between St. Luke’s and Inspirica, credited Christie and the fashion show with “planting a seed that is growing into something much bigger and much deeper.”

St. Luke’s Head of School Mark Davis said of the partnership: "We are combining forces, so there are not only benefits to the clients at Inspirica who need resources, but also a great opportunity to raise awareness among our students about homelessness and public service in general. People in both organizations will be strengthened by this relationship."
