Ridgefielder of the Week: Dorothy Pawlowski

This week meet Dorothy Pawlowski, Ridgefield Library's head of adult services.

Name Dorothy Pawlowski

Age ?

Occupation
I am the adult services department head at Ridgefield Library. I have been a librarian for eight years. I had various other careers before this one, such as physical therapy, and I also worked in publishing.

At the library, I do a homebound delivery service for people who can't get out. We send volunteers out to bring books, audio books, large print books and movies to their homes. This has been going on for about a year and a half.  [Assistant Library Director] Mary [Rindfleisch] and I thought it would be a good idea.

I think it's a wonderful service for people who have no other way of getting to the library, such as people at Ridgefield Crossing and Prospect Ridge who love getting materials. I also run book groups.

How long have you been in Ridgefield?
I've been here for 20 years. I lived in Manhattan for 15 years, but I grew up in New Jersey.

What is your favorite place to go in Ridgefield?
The library because of all the wonderful materials we have here and the wonderful program. I love to attend the programs even when I'm not working.

Why Ridgefield?
We had a young child and thought this would be a great place for a family. We drove around and we didn't want to go too far from the city and this seemed like it would work.
