Ridgefield Residents Asked to Run Tap Water After Water Main Repair

Residents were being asked to run their tap water before using it following the repair of a water main break on Branchville Road.

Ridgefield residents were being asked to run their tap water before using it Saturday following the repair of a water main break on Friday on Branchville Road, just south of Cooper Hill Road, according to a report in the Ridgefield Press.

On Friday the Press reported that there had been a major drop in water pressure in the center of town, however police reportedly said it had nothing to do with the break that occurred earlier in the day.

A water main on Branchville Road “is the main feeder into Ridgefield from Aquarion's reservoirs,” according to the report by The Ridgefield Press’ Jack Sanders.

Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi told the Press that although the repair may have caused some clouding of the city's water, it is “perfectly safe” and that residents only need to let their taps run to clear it up.
