The indoor track teams dominated Saturday's FCIAC Central Division meet, winning titles in both the boys and girls competion at Wilton's Zeoli Field House.

The boys, who outdistanced six teams with 160.50 points, were led by Ben O'Regan, a two-time winner in the 1,000-meters and 3,200-meters.

Ridgefield also had wins in the pole vault (Nicolas Brunsden) and shot put (Colin Fitzgibbon).  

The girls, who competed with five teams, posted a total score of 146. Caroline Carr (1,000 and 3,200) was a double-winer for the Tigers, who also got wins from Sarah Gulliaume (1,600), Madison Damron (pole vault) and Amanda Barta (long jump).

Thanks to Kurt Steidl, who had a menmorable night, the Ridgefield boys basketball team had no trouble rebounding from its first loss of the season.

Steidl erupted for 42 points Friday as the Tigers hammered Bridgeport Central 84-64 on Friday night to improve to 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the FCIAC.

Fourteen was the magic number for Steidl as he made 14 field goals and shot 14-of-14 from the foul line.

While Ridgefield did allow a season high in points, the Tigers bounced back from Tuesday's 48-44 setback to Trinity Catholic.

With Steidl almost singlehandedly beating the Hilltoppers, Ridgefield's next leading scorer was Jack Heller with eight points.

After the Tigers jumped out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter, Central outscored Ridgefield 19-13 in the second period to pull within 34-30 at the intermission.

But Ridgefield put it away durng a dominating third quarter when it outscored the Hilltoppers by a 29-13 margin. The Tigers exploded for 50 points in the second half.

Shaquan Bretox scored 16 points to pace Central, which dropped to 7-4 and 7-4.

The Ridgefield girls basketball team blanked Bridgeport Central in the second quarter Friday en route to a 46-14 victory over the Hilltoppers.

Samme Jancin scored 14 points for the Tigers, who improved to 5-9 overall and 5-7 in the FCIAC. Emily Favorite added seven for Ridgefield, which used 11 players in the blowout.

The Tigers built a 17-3 lead after the first period, then blanked Central 21-0 in the second to extend their lead to 38-3 at halftime.

With the loss, Central dropped to 2-11 overall.

Ridgefield snapped a three-game losing streak and needs to win three of its remaining six games to qualify for the state tournament.

The second-ranked Ridgefield boys hockey team won its 11th straight game Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Fairfield Warde-Ludlowe at the Wonderland of Ice.

Jack Christensen, Danny McMullan and Jack Tregurtha scored for the Tigers, who improved to 11-1 overall and 6-0 in the FCIAC.

Ridgefield goalkeeper Dustin Rausa needed to make only 13 saves to preserve the victory.

Fairfield dropped to 4-9.
