Despite breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure's announcement that it would no longer provide funding to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screening services, the board president of Komen Connecticut said that its funding to local PP offices will remain available, according to Boston.com.

Hogan told Boston.com that despite the national office's decision, the $38,000 given by Komen to Planned Parenthood of Southern New England last April will continue to be available until the end of June, when the funds are due to run out. Because Planned Parenthood of Southern New England didn't apply for a grant renewal past June, Hogan said that the possibility that Komen would have had to reject the request is "hypothetical."

When asked why it was severing ties with Planned Parenthood, Komen's national office said it was because the organization is being investigated by Congress, according to The Huffington Post. Planned Parenthood, on the hand, said the reason is due to Komen feeling pressure from anti-abortion activists.

Planned Parenthood has several local branches in Connecticut, including centers in Stamford, Bridgeport, Danbury and Shelton.
