'Kids are Pretty Smart, Too Bad They Can't Vote'

The day's most interesting comments from Patch users in your town and neighboring communities.

DARIEN: "I need to take the Republicans' campaign and write it into a children's bedtime story. Children are the only ones who will believe it... but then again, kids are pretty smart, too bad they can't vote." This was one Darien Patch reader's reaction to Tuesday night's election results.

GREENWICH: "Parents need to be aware of their child's behavior and instill self-confidence and self-esteem in their children. Also, children must have respect for themselves and others. If they do, they will realize the value of every individual — that no matter how rich or poor a person is, no matter how they dress or how they speak, no matter how a person looks, that person is special and deserves to be treated justly." This is how one Greenwich Patch reader reacted to an article about the Greenwich Board of Education's new bullying policy.

STAMFORD: "The operative word is 'illegal.' Calling an illegal who broke the law an 'undocumented worker' is equal to calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist.' Give me a break." This is what one Patch reader said about a state bill that would allow children of undocumented immigrant aliens to qualify for in-state tuition.

WILTON: "Seems hypocritical that some voters were worried about protecting their commerce "friends" in town (Wilton Wine Shop, Anconas, Village Market, etc.). This boiled down to 'freedom of choice' vs. 'let's protect our friends.' The real loss, unfortunately, is that only 25 percent of registered town voters showed up at the polls, which implies that they could care less. The Old Guard Wiltonians won and, yes, Wilton is still 'unique' a.k.a. 'awkward.'" This was one Wilton Patch reader's response to news that Wiltonians voted down the sale of beer in local grocery stores.
