'Is It All About The Money? I Think So'
The day's most interesting comments from Patch users in your town and neighboring communities.
FAIRFIELD: "It's shopping season, but that's not an excuse to drive like a lunatic. Slow down and look around. Those bargains won't mean anything if you hit a pedestrian." This message was posted on Fairfield Patch's "What Do You Have to Say?" section in lieu of the busy holiday season.
RIDGEFIELD: "I think Ridgefield is heading the wrong way when so easily blaming everything on the stress kids feel. I think it is a pre-fab excuse. 'Mommy, mommy, the stress is too much for me. Make them cancel our exams!' And what do we do? We cancel the exams. So shortsighted. And we are 'solving' the wrong problem." This is what one Ridgefield Patch reader said in response to news that five teens and a 21-year-old have been charged with supplying alcohol to minors in connection with the deadly car crash that claimed the life of 16-year-old Ridgefield resident Jacqueline Brice on Aug. 3. The discussion among readers turned to the amount of stress that teens currently face.
SHELTON: "If the coaches at Syracuse knew of the sexual abuse and didn't report it, they should be gone, too. There is no sport worthy of protecting while children are sexually abused. Is it all about the money? I think so. What kind of men are these? Not one you'd want working for you." This was one Shelton Patch reader's response to an article that asked Shelton High School teachers what they thought about Syracuse University's decision to fire men's basketball coach Bernie Fine after being accused of molestation by three men.
WESTON-REDDING-EASTON: "Is this band going to play 'If I Only Had a Brain' when Obama goes on the show? I disagree with Heather, this is a clear example of a liberal media bias, and I am not a Bachmann supporter." This is on Weston-Redding-Easton Patch reader's response to this week's "Patch In" column where contributor Heather Borden Hervé discusses NBC's apology to U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann after her recent appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
