'I Spilled My Coffee When I Saw Her Headline'

The day's most interesting comments from Patch users in your town and neighboring communities.

DARIEN: "Darien glorifies sports and those affiliated with sports think they are above the law, but now we see they aren't." This was one Darien Patch reader's response to news that a state judge has rejected an attempt by the Darien Little League to get a defamation lawsuit filed by Darien developer Margaret Stefanoni thrown out of court, thus allowing the case to go to trial.

RIDGEFIELD: "While I could never imagine what it might be like to have my child involved in such a horribly tragic event, I would most certainly hope that they understand they need to be held accountable for poor decisions. Getting a slap on the wrist and evading responsibility only teaches kids that there are no consequences to their actions. We do that a lot around here." This is what one Ridgefield Patch reader said in response to news that five teens and a 21-year-old have been charged with supplying alcohol to minors in connection with the deadly car crash that claimed the life of 16-year-old Ridgefield resident Jacqueline Brice on Aug. 3.

TRUMBULL: "Honest to goodness... I had to see if I've misplaced my 1978 Topps Bobby V card..." This was one Trumbull Patch reader's response to news that Stamford native Bobby Valentine has reached a verbal agreement with the Boston Red Sox to become the team's next manager.

WILTON: "HB owes me a new shirt. I spilled my coffee when I saw her headline..." This was one Wilton Patch resident's response to contributor Heather Borden Hervé's opinion piece about U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachman and her appearance on NBC's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
