Bailey's Backyard Reopens Thursday

Following two months of renovations and private tasting event Wednesday evening, Bailey's Backyard is officially back in business.

Looking for a new restaurant to try out this weekend?

Head over to 23 Bailey Avenue, where you'll find a familiar name, Bailey's Backyard, with a renovated interior and new menu focused on locally-sourced ingredients.

Sal Bagliavio—owner and primary chef at Bailey's Backyard from October 1999 until the present—announced the changes in March when they closed the restaurant to renovate, re-design the menu and re-tool the team.

His focus has always been casual, new American cuisine, he said, but for a long time he had wanted to create a true farm-to-table spot in Ridgefield.

Now he's found someone to help him achieve that goal—and allow him to spend more time with his three young children.

The new team includes Head Chef Forrest Pasternack, a native of Western Connecticut and an honors graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He honed his skills in New York City kitchens like Zoe Restaurant, Thomas Keller's former place, Raoul's, and Laurent Tourendel’s BLT. His last assignment before coming to Bailey's was Terra Restaurant in Greenwich.

Sous chef Kristina Rogers, also a CIA graduate, joins Pasternack in executing Bailey's new farm-to-table menu.

“In Forrest, I have found someone I can stand with and carry out my goal,” said Bagliavio. “He'll be the executive chef, and I will be executive taster.”

The restaurant last received a facelift in 2010.

The restaurant hours are for lunch, Tues.—Sat., 11:30—3 p.m.; for dinner, Tues.—Thurs., 5—9:30; Fri. & Sat, 5—10 p.m.; Sun., 5—9 p.m. and Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m.—3 p.m. Telephone: 203-431-0796.

Bailey's was already a winner in many Ridgefielder's eyes before the renovations. Let us know what you think of the new space after checking it out!
