5 Things All About Ridgefield: Mar. 7

The budget meetings start, hockey team does yoga, natural paintings, stress in school and earth-like planets.

  • The first of this week's Board of Selectmen budget meetings will take place tonight 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. On the agenda tonight are a presentation of the Board of Education's budget proposal approved last week, a discussion of the town capital and operating budget and a general budget discussion.
  • Head up to Danbury tonight at 7 p.m. for the last yoga class with the Danbury Whalers hockey team. The $15 class is held at the Danbury Ice Arena's locker room, featuring some of the players from the team.
  • An exhibit at the library featuring the art of Michael Rothman opened this weekend. Check out Rothman's colorful interpretation of the natural world today -- it will only be around during the month of March.
  • See the film "Race to Nowhere" 7 p.m. tonight at the Playhouse. Many parents in town to view the film that speaks of stress in schools, and the PTA has organized these extra showings based on its popularity.
  • In the search for extraterrestrial life, the Kepler space observatory was launched two years ago on this date in 2009. Its mission is to discover "earth-like planets" orbiting other stars in the universe.
