5 Things All About Ridgefield: Apr. 22

Earth Day, Jane Eyre, closed for holiday, Good Friday service and the BP spill.

  • It's Earth Day! Celebrate in one of Ridgefield's parks, or hike a trail or plant a tree. However you choose to spend your Earth Day, remember to enjoy the little things.
  • The new interpretation of Jane Eyre has been committed to film, and the Playhouse is showing it today at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Up-and-coming American director Cary Fukunaga is at the helm of this well-reviewed version of Charlotte Bronte's classic 1847 novel.
  • The library and other town buildings are closed today for Good Friday.
  • Join St. Stephen's Episcopal Church from noon to 3 p.m. for a community Good Friday service.
  • On this day last year, the oil rig Deepwater Horizon owned by BP and Transocean sank to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, eventually leading to the largest oil spill in U.S. history.
