'Ridgefield Folk' Music Series to Feature Mark Erilli

"Ridgefield Folk," the library's live music series, will abound with sound from 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 19, with a show by Mark Erelli.

Erelli was finishing up a graduate degree in evolutionary biology when, at 23, his self-titled debut was released. He hit the ground running when he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk contest and his album spent weeks in the top 10 of the Americana radio charts and garnered four Boston Music Award nominations.

On "Hope," his 2006 release, Erelli played 11 different instruments, ushering in the next stage in his musical evolution as a multi-instrumentalist sideman.

Erelli was by Lori McKenna's side in front of 15,000 people each night when she opened for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on the Soul2Soul tour in 2007. More recently, he accompanied Josh Ritter on a UK tour that culminated in a two-night stand at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The fall series continues with The Waymores (Don Henry, Sally Barris and Tom Kimmel) Oct. 3 and Heart and Soul (Frannie Faith, Jeff Southworth, Chris Coogan and Sharon Bryant) Oct. 24.

The concert is free thanks to the Friends of the Library. Tickets can be picked up the day of the show starting at 1 p.m. and doors open at 1:30 p.m.
